Portville Hall of Fame

Mr. Lee A. Frair graduated from Portville Central School in 1934. After
attending Cornell University, he was hired as an Agriculture teacher at Portville
in 1939.  He served five years of active duty in the military during World War
II and returned to Portville to teach for 15 years, act as Assistant Principal for 2
years, Vice Principal for 3 years, and Superintendent for 16 years, retiring in
1979.  

Mr. Frair founded the Portville Central School Student Loan Fund, is a
founding member of the Cattaraugus County National Honor Society, life
member of the PTA, and had numerous recognitions for his involvement in the
school’s FFA program.  Outside of Portville Central School, Mr. Frair served
as an Allegany County Legislator for 14 years.  Mr. Lee Frair’s involvement
and influence have gone well beyond the walls of P.C.S.  His involvement in
the greater community shows true love and concern for his fellow human
beings.
