Death of William A. Dusenbury

The readers of THE TIMES will be pained to learn of the death of William A. Dusenbury, who died
quite suddenly at his home in Tidioute, Pa., at noon Monday (August 4, 1890).  Mr. Dusenbury had
been ill but a short time, and until within a day or two, his condition was not thought to be critical.
The deceased was a former resident of Portville, a son of the late Henry Dusenbury, and was about
fifty years of age.  He was a brother of Messrs. John E. and E. G. Dusenbury of Portville, and Mrs.
Bishop Vincent of Buffalo, Mrs. Allan Sheldon of Detroit and Miss Carrie Dusenbury of Portville.  He
leaves a wife and three children.  Mrs. Dusenbury is the sister of Mr. John H. Truesdell, of New
York, formerly of Olean.

Mr. Dusenbury was one of the most extensive and successful lumber operators along the Allegany
River, and was also largely engaged in the tanning business, being a member of the well-known firm
of Dusenbury, Wheeler & Co.  He gave his special attention to the interests of the firm in Forest
County, Pa.  He was eminently successful in business, enterprising, progressive and public-spirited –
a gentleman of high character and stainless reputation; his death removes a useful and honored
citizen, who will be mourned by a wide circle of friends.
